Lee Valley Project update
09/07/2010
Work is expected to begin next week on a multi-million euro development at the Lee Valley in Tralee, following the official announcement that the project is to receive €3million in funding from Fáilte Ireland.
The new leisure and eco-tourism development is expected to attract as many as 70,000 visitors a year when it is finished next summer, according to Tralee Town Council, which has been planning the project for several years.
It will feature a nature park focussing on the Tralee Bay Nature Reserve, a wetlands sanctuary of international importance, and an eco-friendly visitor centre which will also serve as an orientation centre for the natural heritage of north and west Kerry.
The park has been designed by Scott Wilson, landscape architects from Belfast and the Wildfowl and Westlands Trust (WWT). The local consultants are Malachy Walsh & Partners, civil engineers based in Blennerville, and Kane Crowe Kavanagh, Quantity Surveyors, Tralee.
